Professor Mark Weisberg,

LAW 332 (Legal Imaginations) - online

Faculty of Law

Queen's University, 2021

"I've  just finished teaching my Legal Imagination course on Zoom, and I want you to know that Kate Rombough has been enormously helpful throughout. Having always taught this course around a table, I was apprehensive about teaching it on Zoom.

Kate not only helped me learn how to navigate the platform, but because she is a teacher and is thoughtful about teaching strategies, I could fruitfully discuss teaching issues with her. I’m sure the course was better for her involvement.

I am delighted she will be continuing in her role in the Faculty, and if I am asked to teach the course again, would be grateful to be able to work with her again.

Sincerely,

Mark Weisberg"

Course Wrap-Up Feedback

St. Lawrence College, 2020

"I find that I’ve improved on my professional writing. The research paper was an excellent assignment as I found it helped me organize my paper with the planning stage. It was a pleasure working with Prof. Rombough, and her teaching skills are excellent and she made this semester work fun and easy to learn. :)" ~anonymous

"My biggest improvement was in formal writing. I could not have imagined writing a research paper prior to this course. I recently realized while writing an article review for PSYC 23 that I would be hopeless were it not for what I learned in this course." ~anonymous

"I have seen vast improvements in my formal emailing and audience analysis with emails through work. Recently I was hired full time and the paperwork and quantity of emails I see in a day is much larger, so this has been a huge help." ~anonymous

"This course has greatly improved my presentation creating abilities. After completing presentations for COMM 110 and receiving feedback, I used my newly acquired skills for presentations in my other courses. I’m certain I could not have completed them as well without learning what we have in COMM." ~anonymous

"The skills I have obtained throughout taking this course has helped me gather not only data, but opinions and arguments that could stem from “outside of the box” type of thinking. [I’m also] identifying assumptions a lot more in real life experiences.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP PROFESSOR!" ~anonymous

"Dear faculty and staff,

Let me [...] take this opportunity to acknowledge the epic –and I don’t use this term lightly – achievements of the Education Development team during the last 18 months. This team, with our IT team, was already placed in a position of occupational stress due to the demands of new and on-going online programming before COVID struck…and then COVID struck.

Our dedicated colleagues in Educational Development and IT, but also in all other areas, from career development to admissions to student services to communications and advancement to the clinics, and beyond, have carried us through some hard times in this law school. I was hoping that when the dust settles we could acknowledge their extraordinary contributions in some way. We will. But of course “the dust” might never really “settle”. Still, we need to pause in the midst of these unusual times to think about the people who have kept this law school on an even keel despite the storms that we have endured.

Let’s think about how to do this in an appropriate manner. In the meantime, thank you all for your dedicated commitment to our community.

Take care,

Mark"

"As a a member of the Faculty of Law’s student team of instructional designers, I have found Kate Rombough to be an excellent supervisor. In addition to her instructional design expertise, Kate brings a cheerful energy to team meetings and is always eager to provide support and resources to her team members.  She delegates tasks according to our team’s strengths and is quick to give encouragement and affirmation."

COMM 82 (Document & Report Writing) - hybrid

St. Lawrence College

Winter Term, 2018

“During this course  I found that the repetition of explaining reports was very helpful. Always having a work period during class that I could ask for advice from my peers or my professor was very helpful. This work period gave me an opportunity to perfect my work and clarify any instructions about assignments as needed - which didn't happen often as the professor was very clear and concise about the project  relevance to the course and rubrics for reference purposes. Kate Rombough possesses this passion about writing and presenting  and is an expert in her field. There was no explanation that I didn't understand. The very seldom times she didn't have the answer to a question she made it clear she would find out and get back to the class - which she did. Ms. Rombough returned emails quickly and helped solve any dilemmas. She has been my go-to when I've needed proof reading  an honest opinion or any pointers  and she is always available for other assignments for other courses. Ms. Rombough is invested in her students  which is seen in her lectures as well as outside of class - she was invited to our Group Dynamics  which was outside of her office/work hours and she came  enjoyed the class and gave us feedback about our presentations. Ms Rombough has real life experiences to share (relevant to my chosen career path)  which makes her an asset as an instructor. This makes her even more enthusiastic and makes the course more interesting.”

Senior English (OLC4O, ENG4C) - F2F

"Today I'm going to talk about my Grade 11 English course I have taken at Pittsburgh Institution. Since my coming and great attendance in my Grade 11 English course, my growth in literacy shows that my skills have improved to their fullest. I learned so much from my schoolteacher Kate. Because of her great way of explanation, I have good information at hand to use for future activities, and with any English problems I may encounter through reading or writing. Not only was this course important to obtain, I had lots of fun going through it as well. [...] The main reason for my success with writing was the help from my teacher. The second is my understanding of what she taught me.

Finally, my conclusions on my growth throughout this course are that I think I did a great job in improving my writing and reading. What I learned will be stored in my rules of knowledge to help me solve any problems I may have or encounter throughout my life. Maybe I could help someone who suffers from a lack of knowledge as I once did too. It's an honour to educate myself with great skills that have improved my abilities."
